Upon arising this morning at 6AM, the thermometer on
the back porch read
22 degrees! The Weather Channel local forecast
not only confirmed the
temperature, but also said the wind chill was -6 degrees
and snow
flurries were forecast for later in the day!
Now this would normally
discourage any "normal" motorcycle club, but not AGWA-IL
Chapter H! Ten
members braved the elements to participate in the
Seventh
Annual McHenry
IL Toys for Tots parade!
The hardy group was led by Jim Garner, who I might
add, was so
overwhelmed by the turnout, (considering the weather)
bought breakfast
for all (are you paying attention Les?).
The parade was a lot of fun - everyone had a great
time tossing candy to
the kids along the parade route and then eating what
was left over.
:0) Jim warned us that we better get all unused
candy out of our bikes
lest they get infested with "varmints" (Jim is speaking
from personal
experience - just ask him!). At the end of the
parade, the Marine Corps
collected all the toy donations, filling an entire
truck.
As the day progressed, the temperatures moderated and
the sun came out.
After the parade, some members enjoyed the free lunch
provided courtesy
of the McHenry HOG Chapter, while others went their
various ways to
enjoy the rest of the day.
Join us next year - you will be glad you did!
Ride Safe!
