The day started with most participants meeting for
breakfast prior to the
run. Due to the large number of attendees, the
run was broken down into
several smaller groups for safety purposes.
After departing, each group's
leader selected their own unique route with the end
point being the Chapter
H Chili Cook - Off site.
Upon arriving at the Chili Cook - Off, the participants
encountered no less
than 10 different types of chili to sample.
The chili was accompanied by
all the "usual" trimmings (grated cheese, jalapenos,
onions, various hot
sauces, etc.), as well as an ample supply of cornbread,
French bread and
crackers. As if that were not enough, there
were also a large selection of
desserts (if you left room). For those that
didn't like chili, hot dogs
with all the trimmings were provided.
It was not easy, but after much soul searching (and
belt loosening!), this
year's winners were:
Category
Winner Prize
--------

Spiciest Chili Karen Jalomo
Fire Extinguisher
Most Unique
Miriam Gillman Smoke Alarm
Best Overall Leona Tatman
Smoke Alarm
After the chili cook - off, several folks "braved the
ladybugs" (yes, they
were there again this year!) and went outside to play
horseshoes, while
others preferred to remain indoors and play chess
or checkers. While we're
on the subject of horseshoes, rumor has it that a
certain Chapter H Rep
claims that his team beat the ex-Chapter H Rep's team
for the "AGWA-IL
Chapter H World Horseshoe Championship". We
have found that this rumor is
untrue and unsubstantiated! There is no photographic
evidence or credible
witnesses to this "supposed" match, therefore this
outrageous claim to being
the "new world champions" cannot become a matter of
record! :0)
A 50-50 was held and you'll never guess who won (again)
- "Lucky" Larry
Greco from Chapter H! Oh, well - he's got to
pay for that new GL1800
somehow.
AGWA-IL and Chapter H would like to thank all those
that participated in the
color run, brought chili for the cook-off or helped
out. Chapter H would
especially like to add a BIG thank you to the following
individuals for
going "above the call of duty" to help make this year's
event a success:
Paulette Brenton, Les Chapman, Leona Tatman, Jo Ann
Scalpone, Wanda
Densmore, Joel Gyurnek and Sue Hanus.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
