The day began innocently enough with Jim leading us
to the Machine Shed in
Rockford, IL for breakfast. This was only a
60 mile ride - just enough to
warm us up for what came later.
After a hearty breakfast, Jim got serious and proceeded
to lead us "across
the country" from Brooklyn (Wisconsin) to Yellowstone
(Lake, Wisconsin), via
New Glarus, WI over some of the finest roads in Southwestern
Wisconsin. One
road was so good, after riding it we turned around
and rode it again! (note:
the return ride was slowed down a bit by a dog that
wouldn't get out of the
way, but was just as enjoyable anyway)
On the way home we needed some sustenance, so an ice
cream stop was made at
Culver's in New Glarus. While there, "Coffee
Dick" Scalpone enlightened us
with some of his hot weather "energy saving" tips
(ask Dick about it the
next time you see him).
At the end of the day, we rolled up over 350 safe miles
on some of the best
roads in the area!
Ride Safe!
